An
integrated 2-year plan to upgrade Holy Cross Hospital’s
Radiology Department, the Picture Perfect Health Project includes:
-
Upgrading
the hospital’s communications system
-
Digitizing
all imaging in Radiology
-
Purchasing
new digital mammography and fluoroscope equipment.
Last
year, Holy Cross’s Radiology Department produced over
32,000 radiology exams. Clear, high quality, high-resolution
images help doctors provide quality treatment without sending
patients out of town. By the end of 2009 this new system will
be installed at a cost of over $1,500,000. The Foundation’s
goal is to raise $360,000 to support this project.
Benefits
of the Picture Perfect Health Project
-
Doctors
can use mammograms, x-rays of broken bones, MRIs, scans
of internal organs, and other radiology exams to better
diagnose and to treat patients.
-
Digital
images help doctors and patients easily transport radiology
images, making it simple to share information and consult
with health care providers located elsewhere. All radiology
equipment—including mammography and fluoroscopic
equipment—will be upgraded to produce digital images.
- Provide
clearer, high quality, high resolution images than celluloid
film.
- Give
patients and doctors immediate access to images by eliminating
the time to develop film.
- Cut
examination time in half and reduce wait time.
- Eliminate
cumbersome storage problems. (Current x-ray films require
huge storage rooms.)
- Allow
easy transport and storage of images with information technology.
They can be sent via the Internet anywhere in the world and
can be permanently stored on CDs or other data storage devices.
The
Holy Cross Hospital Foundation raises money to support the
hospital in Taos as it works to improve the health of the
residents of Taos County and surrounding areas. Our first
priority is purchasing state-of-the-art equipment for the
hospital.
